Located
150 miles south of
the U.S/Mexico border towns of Calexico/Mexicali. Cowpatty overlooks the scenic Sea of Cortez at Km 72 (south
of San Felipe), 2 miles from pavement's end at Puertecitos. The recently paved road makes the trip about an hour's
drive from San Felipe. If you like remote beaches and getting away from the tourist areas, you'll love the Cowpatty.
The government in Ensenada has recently changed it's policies on issuing "permisos" to sell beer.
Richard, Beth and Patti have been working diligently to find a way to restore the permiso for COWPATTY. Thanks to everyone
for signing our petition to the government and continuing to support our efforts to restore this vital tourist stop south
of San Felipe. Your letters to the tourist bureau, Tecate and the Mexican government in Ensenada are sincerely appreciated.
A fun and relaxing place to stop and enjoy an ice cold beer or soda and Richard's world-famous hot dogs. Lots of
locals to practice your Spanish with and English is spoken. The clean restrooms are truly a "jewel" to find in the desert.
Contact us for special group arrangements and events. Each year we have many travelers stopping in on the way to
and from exciting adventures along the peninsula. The Cowpatty can still be reserved for groups....BYOB.....
Horseshoes, darts, shuffleboard are available. Whether you like the open air view of the beautiful coastline,
or the picturesque view of the mountains to the west, the Cowpatty offers a great spot to relax and enjoy some of Baja California
Norte's extreme beauty.
Beach area and campgrounds are nearby. Charter fishing is available. Puertecitos boat ramp, airstrip and hot
pools are located 2 miles south. You'll find plenty of friendly faces and a wealth
of information to make your trip even more enjoyable.
